Starting in the summer of 1950, in Laguna Beach, California Hobie Alter influenced generations of surfers, shaping surfboards and shaping the surf culture. Between the birth of the first surf shop and the introduction of a lighter, polyurethane foam surfboard, the surfing revolution was launched.
