Coastal decor is growing rapidly in popularity and our friend John Doherty, a fisherman and artist who has adopted and employed the Japanese Gyotaku method of fish printing/painting. This puts him at the forefront of the coastal decor market. John has drawn upon the old to create something new. The fish rubbing process began two thousand years ago in the Orient. It was originally done to document the species and sizes of fish. It then transformed into an art form. The Gyotaku technique allows for a truly accurate image of all the details in each fish. Printed on both wood and metal in three different sizes, metal signs have rolled edges and grommets in all the corners, wood signs have a sawtooth bracket already mounted. Signs are substantial and durable, wood signs are intended for indoor use while metal signs can be utilized indoors or out. Avoiding long periods of direct sunlight will increase the lifespan of the product. 100% Made in the USA.
